How to read this table: a checkmark only tells you that a label or interface exists. Infrastructure is not the differentiator: both are cloud-hosted, both ship schema and sitemaps, both connect Search Console and Analytics — Carrot is a capable, mature SEO platform, and this table says so plainly. Beginning in 2022, Google introduced a site-wide helpful-content signal aimed at low-value, low-added-value, search-first content. Picture hundreds of investor sites targeting Atlanta from the same starting article. Google can still rank one or more of them — but the shared copy gives it no reason by itself to prefer yours. The winner has to be separated by authority, local proof, firsthand information, links, brand signals, or meaningful personalization. Search engines may also consolidate substantially similar pages, select another version to display, or simply see little reason to rank a lightly modified copy above the alternatives. The practical risk is not an automatic duplicate-content penalty; it is failing to provide enough original value to deserve visibility. In 2021, Carrot said its software had helped more than 8,000 real estate investors. In June 2022, it said it had almost 8,000 active members worldwide. By March 2023, it cited internal data across more than 7,000 members. Trevor Mauch's current press kit says Carrot helps over 6,000 real estate investors and agents. Those are Carrot's or Carrot leadership's own published descriptions, and we present them exactly for that reason.
Read them for exactly what they are: rounded marketing descriptions published at different times and using somewhat different labels. They are not an audited customer census, and they do not establish an exact churn percentage. What they do establish is that Carrot's own published headline figure has moved from language above or near 8,000 to language above 6,000.
The direction of the published messaging is the point. Member or customer scale is normally a number companies prefer to present as growing. Carrot-related materials previously used language above or near 8,000 and now use language above 6,000. We did not create those figures; we are showing the company's own published descriptions over time.
A separate public measurement is also available: BuiltWith currently reports 6,221 live websites where it detects Carrot technology. That number measures public technology detections, not members, customers, or subscriptions, and it should not be treated as confirmation of Carrot's member count. We include it only as a separately reproducible measurement of Carrot's present public web footprint.
And we won't tell you why. A decline of this size overlaps with several forces at once: Google's helpful-content and core-ranking changes, the 2022–2023 rate shock and the investor contraction that followed, business closures, platform consolidation, and ordinary migration. We can't separate them, and neither can anyone else outside Carrot. The responsible conclusion is not that one algorithm update caused the movement in Carrot’s published figure. Separately, the current search environment places a higher premium on original, differentiated, useful content, which is why Apex generates content independently per site by default.
We didn't build a website builder because the industry needed another website builder. We built one because we couldn't build the operating system we wanted without controlling the front door. If the website is where every deal begins, it can't be disconnected from everything that happens after it.
That's why Apex includes its own website builder — not to compete with Carrot, but to complete the system. What Carrot currently costs — stated plainly
As of 17 July 2026, Carrot lists its Individual website plan at $119/month and its Agency plan at $299/month, with one call-tracking number included and 35 tracked keywords on Individual. CarrotCRM Free is included with website subscriptions and fits a solo operator with light usage; the Kanban board, transaction and disposition views, additional seats and heavier sequence use sit on the paid CRM tiers (Scale, 5 users, $179/mo; Team, 10 users, $349/mo) — Carrot's CRM pricing page lists Transaction Management on Scale and Team only. Carrot lists its AI Suite at $99 per month and says it includes its available AI features, including AI Call Insights, Autonomous Lead Manager, lead scoring, and summaries. Carrot also states that additional charges may apply after included monthly usage limits are exceeded. Premium 1:1 support is $69/mo.
One inconsistency worth flagging: Carrot's pricing FAQ says additional sites are $29/month, while its plan comparison lists $39/month for Individual sites and $29/month for agency-owned client sites. We're pointing at the discrepancy rather than quoting whichever number suits us. Pricing and usage limits change — verify Carrot's current pricing page before purchasing.
"Carrot lets you integrate; Apex is integrated" hides four very different things. Where a platform sits on this ladder decides whether your data actually works together — or just passes by.
Most software says “integrated.” It usually means the data moves. Real intelligence begins when the software changes its own decisions because of that data.
Carrot's own website and CRM are natively connected — that's level 3, and it's real. The gap opens where the deal leaves that database: the estimator, the offer, the buyers and the ad spend are wired in with Zapier and webhooks, back to level 2. Apex is level 4: every component writes to one shared data model, and one intelligence reasons across all of it. That's what "integrated" has to mean before it means anything.
